Doug Visconti was tired of working 12 hour days, six days a week in retail, so he came to SCC to see if he could find a career path he would enjoy.

His decision to come back to school ultimately led him to his current position as a technical support analyst at Enterprise Holdings. 

“A contracting company came in to speak to my class about possible job opportunities,” Doug said. “It was there I met Amy Benga with Ibridge Solutions and started the process of moving into my first IT job.”

Doug initially signed up for the A+ Certificate class at SCC, because he was interested in computers. That led him to a focus in networking.

“I really liked the fact that networking had a practical list of courses with a lot of hands-on work,” Doug said. “It is a path that has relevance in any IT field.”

Doug completed his A+ Certification and passed the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) tests. He is currently re-enrolled and taking the classes for the Associate of Science degree in security, having already earning his Security+ Certification. 

“My experience with SCC has been amazing,” Doug said. “All of the teachers are people who work in the industry and have great real-world knowledge. Taking classes with lab-based learning has been extremely helpful in my career.”
