Helpspot

Use Helpspot, SCC’s online Help Desk, to submit a request for help with computer problems or to check on the status of your request.

Follow these easy steps to submit or check on a request:

  1. Click on the Helpspot link.
  2. Click on Submit a Request.
  3. Complete the form. All boxes in red must be completed in order for your request to be processed. The more details you include, the better we will be able to help you.
  4. Click on Submit Request at the bottom of the form. You should then see a window that acknowledges your request and that includes an access key. You can use this access key to check on the  status of your request. If you do not receive this window and access key, you may have missed completing one of the mandatory fields.
CougarMail

Logging on to CougarMail for the first time:

Look up your college assigned email address

Your initial password is as follows:

  • First Letter of your First Name
  • First Letter of your Last Name
  • A Period (.)
  • ALL seven digits of your Student ID Number (including leading zeroes)

For example: John Doe has Student ID Number of 0367124, so his initial password is jd.0367124

Follow the directions below:

  1. Open your Internet Browser. (CougarMail works best with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or Safari.)
  2. Navigate to https://login.microsoftonline.com/
  3. After the page loads you will see:
    Office 365 Sign in with your organizational account.
    Note: If you see Outlook Live or one of your other email accounts, sign out and then click on Sign in with a different account. Enter your Email Address, Initial Password, and click on Sign In.
  4. Select your time zone: (UTC-6:00) Central Time (US & Canada).
  5. Click on OK.
  6. Your Inbox will open.

Account & Password Information

Effective June 1, 2015, all students passwords were reset!

SCC is pleased to announce a very important change happening on campus. With this change, you will only be responsible for one password for all of our systems, and you will also be able to save your work on any computer and it will be there when you log in again.

About SCC Logons

All students will logon to SCC wireless, campus computers and Web-based services, such as Canvas, SCC Connection, mySCC and Office 365 using their college assigned email address or the username preceding the @ of the email address.

This username is composed of the first letter of your first and last names and a six digit number assigned by the college. If you are logging into SCC Connection, use this username as your login. For all other systems, you MUST use your entire email address.

For example, Stevie Nicks would have a college assigned email address like: sn123456@my.stchas.edu

Stevie would log into SCC Connection only using sn123456 and her password. For all other systems, she would use her entire email address (sn123456@my.stchas.edu) and her password.

You can lookup your college assigned email address if you don't know it.

About SCC Passwords

Your initial SCC password will be:

First initials of your first and last name

A period “.”

All seven digits of your Student ID (including leading zeroes)

For example, if your name was Stevie Nicks and Student ID was 0426784, your initial password would be: sn.0426784

Your SCC password protects your information. In order to protect such information, the continued use of default passwords (those passwords used when the account is created) is discouraged. This can be accomplished by using the password tool and directions found immediately below.

If you are on campus, you may also login to any student computer, press Control + Alt + Delete and select "Change a password” on the computer screen.

Personalized Password

Students should change their default password to a personalized password as soon as possible.

To change your password you must first set up a secret question and answer.

Please follow these steps in order:

  1. Fill out the following fields:
  2. Click on Submit.
  3. After you click on submit, you will prompted to select a security question and security answer.
  4. You should see “You have successfully setup the self-service portal!”

After obtaining your security question and answer, go to the Password Reset Page and enter the following information:

  1. Student ID Number
  2. Date of Birth: (mm/dd/yyyy)
  3. Last 4 digits of SSN
  4. College assigned email
  5. Security question
  6. Security answer

Click on Submit.

You will need to enter your new password and confirm the new password with following requirements:

  1. Must be eight characters
  2. Must have one upper and lower case letter
  3. One number
  4. One special character such as ! @ # $ .

Click on Submit.

You should see “You have successfully reset your password.”

mySCC Portal Help

In order to access mySCC, St. Charles Community College's online portal, you will need to have your college assigned email address and your password.

Your college assigned email address should be in the welcome letter you received after applying to the college. If you no longer have that letter or the letter does not contain your college assigned email address you can look it up at https://tool.stchas.edu/UserAccount/Email.

Your welcome letter should also contain your default password. The default password should follow this formula:

  • First initial and last initial
  • A period "."
  • All seven digits of your student ID (this includes the leading zeroes)

As an example, if your name was Stevie Nicks and your student ID was 0426784, then your default password would be sn.0426784

Changing Your Password

SCC recommends that you change your default password as soon as possible. There are currently two ways to do this:

  1. Log into any campus computer, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select the "Change a password" option.
  2. Setup a secret question/answer and then reset your password.

Setup secret question

  1. Fill out the following fields:
    • Student ID number
    • Date of birth in mm/dd/yyyy format
    • Last 4 digits of social security number
    • College assigned email address (Don't know it? Look it up).
  2. Click Submit.
  3. You will be prompted to select a security question and answer.
  4. Upon completion you should see, "You have successfully setup the self-service portal!"

Now you can reset your password at https://tool.stchas.edu/Password/Reset

Prove that you are who you say you are by entering your:

  1. Student ID number
  2. Date of birth in mm/dd/yyyy format
  3. Last 4 digits of your social security number
  4. College assigned email address
  5. Security question
  6. Answer to your security question

Please keep in mind that your new password must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be at least eight characters
  • Must have at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter
  • Must contain at least one number
  • Must contain at least one special character, such as ! @ $ .
  • Cannot contain any portion of your name
