Are you eager to work the medical field but worry about how long it will take to train for a good career? In just two semesters at SCC, you can be ready to work in a physician’s office, healthcare clinic, or urgent care setting.

Medical assistants are trusted members of the healthcare team who have both administrative and clinical responsibilities. You’ll work side-by-side with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses, to provide patients with the highest quality care. Common clinical tasks include taking vital signs, drawing blood, administering medications, preparing patients for procedures, and completing laboratory tests. Medical assistants may also help schedule appointments, verify insurance, and assist with billing and coding.

Healthcare is one of the fastest growing industries in the nation, and medical assistants are in high demand. If you are looking for a career where you work with people to improve their health and well-being, training to become a medical assistant may be a great path for you.
