YPT to hold open auditions for Disney’s ‘NEWSIES’ Nov. 4

Young People’s Theatre will hold open auditions for Disney’s NEWSIES at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, in the Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Building auditorium at St. Charles Community College. Callbacks by invitation will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. 

Auditions will consist of singing a song which will be taught, a dance routine which will be taught and brief readings from the script. Students should wear comfortable clothes and dance shoes, and bring tap shoes if they tap. Before auditioning, please download and complete the audition form, which can be found at stchas.edu/ypt. If cast, there is a fee of $236.   

Those auditioning must be accompanied by an adult. To be cast, students must either have had Introductory Theatre Workshop I or concurrently enroll in that class in addition to being in the production.  

Rehearsals will begin Thursday, Jan. 10, and will be held from 6-9:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday and 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays. Not all students will be required to be at every rehearsal period. Rehearsals are daily the 10 days before performance begins. 

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, March 22-23, and Friday-Saturday, March 29-30, and 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, March 23-24, and Saturday-Sunday, March 30-31. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at stchastickets.com or by calling 636-922-8233.
