A Marvel-ous time to talk about DC Comics" with Rachel McWhorter, English professor and Vicky Herbel, sociology professor.

Sorry Marvel fans, DC comics are in the house today! We will discuss the beginnings of modern superheroes specifically examining Superman and Captain America. Birthed after the Great Depression, these superheroes spoke “out” about what the US should do with Hitler’s rising power even before our country had taken a formal step towards war! We will also discuss Wonder Woman and her ties to feminism.

 Show your allegiance to the DC comic world by wearing your favorite DC comic themed t-shirt to our presentation.  There will be prizes! Marvel fans, we dare you to wear your t-shirts too.
