English as a Second Language

Our free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes help non-native speakers improve English skills in reading, writing, speaking and understanding (listening), with a special focus on conversational skills for home and workplace literacy.

Adult Education & Literacy

St. Charles Community College coordinates a four-county Adult Education and Literacy program in St. Charles, Warren, Lincoln and Pike counties to teach basic reading, math and writing skills, to prepare people to take the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) and to assist non-native speakers in gaining English proficiency. Free day and evening classes are available.

Students must be at least 17 years of age and not enrolled in secondary school. For more information about class times, class sites or any of the services described below, call St. Charles Community College at 636-922-8411 or email smugler@stchas.edu.

PLEASE NOTE: As of January 2, 2014, the test of High School Equivalency offered in Missouri is the HiSET. To learn more about the HiSET or to schedule a test, go to hiset.ets.org.
