St. Louis String Summit

presented by St. Charles Community College in partnership with St. Louis String Collective

The St. Louis String Summit is a camp for violin, viola, cello and bass players to explore many styles of music as well as contemporary playing techniques. Students will also be able to take classes in everything from regional fiddle styles to improvisation to the “chop” and much more!

The camp is for beginning, intermediate, advanced, and professional string players ages 12 through adult. Students will primarily be asked to learn by ear.

St. Louis String Summit Details

Tuition: $425, Early Bird rate of $400 if registered by February 28 ($25 discount will be applied at checkout during registration)

Lunches: You may pre-order lunch for the week for an additional $60. Select options are offered and must be ordered by June 15.

End of Camp Concert: Friday, June 26 in the afternoon. Time TBD

Family members, teachers, and friends are encouraged to attend the end of camp concert on Friday, June 26. Support our students as they demonstrate their skills and share the stage with some of today's hottest string musicians!

While the St. Louis String Summit will not have a specific track for educators, any educators are encouraged to participate in the Educator Track presented during SCC Jazz Camp with Dr. Chris Azzara. He focuses on improvisation and creativity, teaching methods that will be applicable for all styles of music and instruments.

Educator Opportunity
June 10-11, 2026
Led by Dr. Christopher Azzara, Eisenhart Professor of Music Teaching & Learning at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester.

Participating educators will:

  • Observe Dr. Azzara teach SCC Jazz Camp students in two 75-minute sessions
  • Take part in two 75-minute faculty Q&A sessions exploring his teaching philosophy and practical classroom applications
  • Earn up to five professional development hours (with district approval)
  • Enjoy daily faculty concerts each afternoon
  • Sessions: Wednesday, June 10 & Thursday, June 11, 12:30–4:00 p.m.
  • Tuition: $150 if registered by April 1 | $200 after April 1

This course is beneficial to all music educators looking to bring improvisation into their teaching.
