Certified Bookkeeping courses begin at SCC July 19

St. Charles Community College’s Bookkeeper Certificate Program begins Wednesday, July 19, on the SCC campus in Cottleville. A bookkeeper’s daily job duties require strong accounting and mathematical skills. SCC’s non-credit Bookkeeper Certificate Program can help you get started on a new career or upgrade your current skill set.

2017 classes: 

Accounting Boot Camp | 7/19-9/13 Wednesday   6-9 p.m.          $195

Class discussions include real-life examples and applications of accounting. This class prepares students for the Certified Bookkeeper course and contains topics typical of a first-semester college accounting class.

Certified Bookkeeper | 9/20-12/13    Wednesday   6-10 p.m.        $995

Certified Bookkeepers (CB) are to bookkeeping what CPAs are to accounting: the elite of the profession. Designed to prepare experienced bookkeepers for the certification exam, the program consists of adjusting entries, corrections of accounting errors, basic book and tax depreciation, basic payroll, merchandise inventory and internal controls and fraud prevention. All materials including exam costs are included.

QuickBooks, Part 1 |    7/10-7/31     Monday          6-9 p.m.          $95 OR
                                    10/23-11/13     Monday          6-9 p.m.          $95

Conquer invoicing, receiving payments, making purchases, entering bills, paying bills, banking, paying employees, viewing reports, backing up files and printing. 

QuickBooks, Part 2 |      8/7-8/14     Monday          6-9 p.m.          $75 OR

                                        11/27-12/4               Monday          6-9 p.m.          $75

Continue with customizing reports, personalizing your settings, importing and exporting from QuickBooks, use of classes and other features. 

In total, the Bookkeeper Certificate program costs $1,360. 

Employment in bookkeeping, accounting and auditing clerks is projected to grow 11% from 2012 to 2022, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
