St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar to speak at SCC’s 2016 commencement

St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar will be the keynote speaker at the 28th annual St. Charles Community College commencement exercises Saturday, May 14. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium of the College Center on the SCC campus.

“As a St. Charles County native, Tim is committed to integrity and justice in our community,” said Todd Galbierz, SCC interim president and vice president for administrative services. “His family has a legacy of public service in the community and here at SCC. We are very pleased to have him speak at our upcoming commencement ceremony.”

Lohmar is a lifelong St. Charles County resident. Born and raised in St. Charles, he graduated from St. Charles West High School in 1992. Following high school, he attended University of Missouri, receiving an undergraduate degree in 1996 and a juris doctorate in 1999.

Lohmar began the private practice of law in St. Charles, with a general law practice from 1999 to 2010. In 2002, he was appointed the assistant prosecuting attorney for the city of O’Fallon. In 2004, he was named the prosecuting attorney for the city of St. Charles, and he was appointed as the first-ever municipal judge for the St. Charles County municipal court in 2008.

In 2010, he was elected to serve as an associate circuit judge for the state of Missouri. Following two years as state court trial judge, he was appointed to serve as the prosecuting attorney for St. Charles County by the St. Charles County executive. In 2014, he was unopposed in a bid for election as prosecuting attorney and is currently serving his second term.

Lohmar has been involved in several community organizations on a volunteer basis throughout his professional career. He served on the St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees from 2002-2010. He also served on other various, local boards of directors, including the SSM St. Joseph Foundation Board. In 2009, he was awarded St. Charles Business Magazine’s annual “40 under 40” award.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Eastern Missouri Law Enforcement Academy, Connections to Success and Partners for Progress Health St. Charles County Leadership Council.
