SCC Women’s Soccer player Mary McGilvray signs with Lindenwood University

Published: 03/23/2016

St. Charles Community College’s starting goal keeper for the 2015 season, Mary McGilvray, will continue her soccer career at Lindenwood University for the fall 2016 season.

McGilvray graduated from Washington High School in 2014 and played her first collegiate season at Coffeyville Community College, where she earned Second Team All-Region honors. She transferred to SCC in the spring of 2015 to be closer to home.

“Mary is an extremely athletic goalkeeper. She is able to make saves that most keepers cannot make,” said Josh Tyler, SCC women’s soccer head coach. “Lindenwood’s head women’s soccer coach, Laurie Kaminski, has a really good program, and I think Mary will do very well there. It always makes me proud to see our players continue playing after SCC.”

McGilvray started all 18 games for the Cougars in 2015 – only allowing 16 goals, recording seven shutouts and earning First Team All-Region.

“We are very excited to add Mary to our soccer program for the next two years,” said Kaminski. “She is athletic, a fierce competitor and has gained valuable experience at SCC. She is someone who we look forward to making an impact on our program.”
