SCC women's soccer challenges ESFC at National Tournament, but fall 2-0

Published: 11/18/2014

EFSC is ranked third in the nation. The Cougars are ranked tenth.

Despite a one-hour lightning delay and playing in the rain, EFSC came out to play and picked up two goals in the first half. The Cougars held them off in the second half, with the final score 2-0.

“I was very proud of how the team battled through the rain,” said Josh Tyler, SCC women’s soccer head coach. “It took the team a little bit to get national tournament jitters out of their system, but once they did, they played their hearts out. The 2-0 score doesn’t reflect how hard the team worked.”

The NJCAA national championship tournament is played in pool play format. SCC will play again at 7 p.m. EST tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 18, against Darton State College (Ga.).

“I’m proud to have this group representing our institution,” said Chris Breitmeyer, SCC vice president for academic and student affairs. “They truly embody the positive attitude, team spirit and work ethic that demonstrates what it is to be part of the SCC community.”
