SCC Math Club to Host 15th Annual High School Area Math Tournament

Published: 02/03/2012

The cost per team member is $2. “Thanks to a mini-grant from the SCC Foundation, we are able to offer reduced pricing for team members,” said Joe Howe, event coordinator and professor of mathematics at SCC.

Students can compete within grade level, individual and team competitions. Winners in various categories will receive trophies, ribbons or medals, and there is a trophy for the best overall team.  This tournament is also a means to qualify for the regional and state level competitions.

Every team must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. Teams usually consist of six members, but smaller teams are accepted. Individual students are also welcome.

“Any high school student is encouraged to compete,” said Howe. “We’d like parents, math teachers, scout leaders and any other adults to help spread the word to high school students, and also to form teams of high school age students.”

For more information about the math tournament or to register, contact Howe at 636-922-8318 or jhowe@stchas.edu.
