Published: 08/25/2009

College is the first school in the country to offer FENCE training

The new course was developed through a cooperative effort between the Department of Health and Senior Services and the Missouri Center for Career Education at the University of Missouri.  The training program will assist licensed nurses in developing specialized skills in assessment and evaluation of geriatric patients. Students in the program will also develop appropriate intervention strategies.

The 45-hour course will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings at the SCC campus.  Classes will be Sept. 8-Dec. 15.  The cost is $275.  Upon completion of the course, participant nurses are eligible to sit for the Missouri FENCE Certification exam.

For additional information or to register for the training course, call the SCC Allied Health Office at 636-922-8295 or 636-922-8280.
