Golf Scramble Raises $48,000 for SCC Scholarships

“We have more students than ever before applying for scholarships,” said Edie Kirk, associate vice president for Foundation and alumni relations. “It is especially important to us this year, with the current economy, to help as many students as we can to pursue their educational goals and to become successful.”
 
The annual event was sold out for the second year in a row with 136 golfers, and raised nearly 50 percent more than last year’s golf scramble.
 
Charles E. Jarrell Contracting was the presenting sponsor. Birdie sponsors were Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, National Sales Company, and SSM St. Joseph Health Center. Additional sponsors were Acropolis Investment Management LLC, AmerenUE, Charter Business, Commerce Bank, Dettmer Homes, FastLane Convenience Stores, NHC HealthCare and Rehabilitation, Regions Bank, Rotary Club of Cottleville/Weldon Spring, THF Realty Inc., UPS, and the SCC Board of Trustees.
 
“We are fortunate to have so many partners in our community dedicated to helping students achieve their college dream through financial support,” said Kirk.
 
Stacey Lutgen, training manager at Ameristar Casino, was the chair of the planning committee for this year’s golf scramble. “Stacey has been involved with the golf event for the past three years and she has been a fantastic volunteer. We value her leadership and thank her for her hard work,” said Kirk.
