St. Charles Community College alum, Tricia Flesner, says the only reason she left SCC was because she couldn’t complete her bachelor’s degree at the college. “I gladly would have stayed through a bachelor of science program,” she said. “I found that the standards held at SCC rivaled many four-year institutions.”

“Because of the incredible background I received from my SCC science professors, I am doing better than most in my courses (at a four-year university) and have already participated in one semester of undergraduate independent research,” she said.

She believes her SCC education eased her transition to University of Missouri–St. Louis, where she is pursuing her goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in biology.

“The highlight of my SCC experience was the amazing SCC STEM faculty, as well as the students in STEM fields who began as study group buddies and quickly flourished into lifelong friendships,” Tricia said.
