With the leadership experience Rachael Boll gained while attending St. Charles Community College, combined with a 4.0 GPA, awards and scholarships, she is on her way to a successful career at SCC.
At the time her parents asked her to go to SCC using the A+ Scholarship Program, the Holt High School teen out of Lake St. Louis didn’t know what opportunities existed.
“I wanted to go to a four-year school,” Rachael said. “I didn’t think you could have ‘the college experience’ at SCC, but I was wrong.”
While at SCC, Rachael was Student Senate vice president, president of Student Ambassadors, a student graduation speaker in May 2012, a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and landed a Work-Study assignment in SCC’s Student Activities Office.
“I really loved it at SCC, and it was because of my experiences here that I was able to get scholarships to attend Missouri State,” she said.
Rachael went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in entertainment management at Missouri State University, where she served on the executive board of Missouri State’s Residence Hall Association, planned weekly after-hours events for Student Activities Council and received the STAR (Student Talent and Recognition) award.
After graduation Rachael worked briefly for another nonprofit organization but always knew she would find her way back to SCC.
“I heard about the admissions counselor position from a contact at the college; she told me I was ‘kind of perfect for it.’ How do you say no to that? I applied, and when they offered me the job, I knew it was the right move for me.”
As an admissions counselor, Rachael now serves as advisor for the Student Ambassadors, of which she was president when she attended SCC.
“Coming to SCC was the best decision I’ve ever made, and I am thrilled to be back.”
