SCC Joins Group to Help Address Nationwide Skills Gap in Manufacturing

Published: 11/09/2023

St. Charles Community College joined SME and a select group of U.S. community and technical colleges in a national initiative addressing the skills gap crisis in manufacturing.

The Manufacturing Imperative – Workforce Pipeline Challenge combines industry and workforce expertise of SME with a select group of community and technical colleges who will work together to develop and implement innovative solutions to address long-standing industry challenges.

“As SCC builds career awareness and introduces students to advanced manufacturing, it is an honor and a privilege to be a part of this group,” said Amanda Sizemore, SCC Assistant Vice President for Corporate and Community Development and past president of the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC).

Benefits for SCC and our region include help with developing innovative career pathways, the ability to collaborate with leading institutions and gaining access to SME’s industry knowledge, expertise in program design, and education resources for training the workforce of today and the future.

SME released their new initiative in August 2023. For more information, contact Amanda Sizemore at asizemore@stchas.edu.
