St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time faculty member to develop and teach agriculture courses for spring 2018. Teaching and course development responsibilities include, but are not limited to, courses in Soil Science, Soil Science Lab, Plant Science, Plant Science Lab, Introductory Forestry, Sustainable Agriculture and the Environment, Precision Agriculture, and an Agricultural Industries course. In addition to teaching, develop community connections with industry as well as advise agriculture students, supervise internships, serve on college committees, and participate in curriculum revision as needed.

A Masters’ Degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Forestry, Agricultural Science or closely related field is required. Ph.D. preferred.

Experience Required: 

  • Graduate Coursework demonstrating knowledge of agronomy and related areas (e.g., crop science, plant science, soil science). 
  • Evidence of teaching experience and course development with undergraduate courses in the agronomy area. 
  • Demonstration of clear written and oral communication skills.
  • Documented commitment to assessing and developing student learning outcomes and to the use of instructional technology in the learning process. 
  • Ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Coursework or experience demonstrating knowledge of global positioning system based applications in precision farming (i.e. field mapping, soil sampling, tractor guidance, crop scouting, variable rate application, etc) used in crop production. 
  • Desire to develop and teach agronomy courses for on-line instruction.
  • Experience using instructional multimedia in the classroom.
