Dear Faculty and Staff:

It’s hard to believe that classes are already entering their fourth week!

As a way to introduce our students to the many valuable resources they have on campus, you may have noticed across campus yesterday tables promoting these services in across campus. Each day this week from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday-Thursday, students are encouraged to visit with team members who are promoting their services to help them succeed. This mini-Student Resource Fair features services like tutoring, the library, disability support services, and many more.  Thanks to the team who put this together in swift fashion (Amber Hart, Jenny Hahn Schnipper and Theresa Flett).

This week I will be joined with Dr. John Bookstaver, VP for academic affairs, and Amy Koehler, dean of allied health and campus dean, as we travel to Kansas City to continue our work to have our Occupational Therapy Assistant Program approved to award a bachelor’s degree. This has been an arduous and important process with a result that will be important to our students and future students. I’ll keep you updated on our progress.

On Aug. 27 I attended, alongside Cabinet members, the Greater Warren County Economic Development Council’s annual awards dinner that featured a keynote address by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson. The governor spoke to the strong position Missouri is in regarding economic development and announced several new companies taking root in our state.

Enrollment remains positive for fall and we look forward to the census which will take place tomorrow. I will keep you updated on our final enrollment figures in the coming weeks.

Finally, if you can, I encourage you to drop by the College Center Rotunda tomorrow between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to view one of four documentaries centered on the events surrounding 9/11 presented by the SVO.

Have a great week,

Barbara
