Touch Base Tuesday 9-1-20
Dear Faculty and Staff:
Last Wednesday was an exciting day for the College as we marked the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new agriculture and food science building at the Dardenne Creek Campus. We were proud to host Missouri Governor Mike Parson, State Sen. Bill Eigel, and State Rep. John Wiemann and thank them for their support of the funding received through the MoExcels Workforce Initiative that helped to fund the renovation and equipment. The building has been transformed into a space that features a bakery, test kitchen, commercial kitchen and brewing lab and will house future credit programs in culinary arts, brewing science and nutrition. The current agriculture program will also utilize the building and surrounding fields for crop research and development.
Thank you to the dedicated many people who made this innovative space a reality, including Dardenne Creek Campus Provost Amy Koehler and her team and Rich Waligurski and the staff in Facilities. As we all know, there are a good deal of technology updates and challenges taking place across the country due to COVID-19 and how it has required educators utilize technology like never before. The SCC Department of Online and E-Learning, headed by Andrea Compton, has done an admirable job responding to these changes and challenges and has provided great service to the faculty, staff and students who depend on them to be successful. Thank you to OEL and to the entire IT team who continue to work on the systems that keep us working. Wishing you a safe and wonderful holiday weekend.
