Dear Faculty and Staff:
Spring finally seems to be in bloom. I thought it would be a good time to switch out the banner photo of my newsletter to celebrate the beauty of the season.
Last week we held our annual two-day planning and budgeting retreat. Historically, this event has been limited to Cabinet members only. This year, we expanded participation to include faculty leaders and deans. At the retreat, we reviewed current and future budget projections, engaged in a S.W.O.T. analysis, and discussed priorities for the upcoming academic year. Additionally, each vice president presented a list of funding needs. We hope to allocate $300,000 to new initiatives. In the event that funds are available, the group participated in prioritizing the list of requests.
As depicted in the following photos: Todd, Joe, and Cheryl enjoy a break outside. In the second photo. Cheryl and Isaac engage in a “rock, paper, scissors” challenge.
I look forward to sharing the notes from the retreat with the President’s Council and obtaining additional feedback related to planning and budgeting.
CAMPUS HAPPENINGS
I look forward to seeing you all this week at our Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luau from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, on the Campus Plaza. Lunch will be provided as a small thank you for all the good work you do for the college.
You’re invited to join us from 3:30-4:30 p.m. this Wednesday, May 2, on the Dardenne Creek Campus for The Center for Healthy Living’s dedication ceremony. We are thrilled to celebrate our new space with a ribbon cutting, refreshments, self-guided tours, and a speaking program starting at 3:45 p.m. I hope to see you there.
The college hosted its annual run on campus Saturday. With weather on our side, it was a beautiful day and I’m told it went off without a hitch!
A job well done by our Department of Public Safety in assisting with the creation of this training video about Belluscura Evacuation Slydes, which aid in evacuating the disabled or injured. Our team was given $6,500 worth of equipment for assisting them with the video.
