Touch Base Tuesday 4.3.18
Dear Faculty and Staff:
I hope all of you enjoyed the holiday weekend with your family and friends. With snow on the ground and the temperature falling below freezing, it is difficult to believe that spring has arrived. As we welcome a new season, much is happening at SCC. Last week, I accompanied SCC Certified Nursing Assistant students and college administrators, faculty and staff at the Center for Healthy Living as the Department of Labor presented us with an official certificate for being an approved Registered Apprenticeship Site. Great work to all those involved in making this happen!
CAMPUS HAPPENINGS
Last week (March 26-29), Student Life partnered with Nursing, the Psychology department, and SCC Foundation to sponsor Wellness Week. The main event featured a successful Mental Health and Wellness Expo. Thanks to everyone for a successful week of activities.
This Friday (April 6) is SCC’s Day of Service. This is a wonderful opportunity for employees to contribute to our community. Also, it is Geek Week on campus. Hogwarts Day is tomorrow (Wednesday, April 4). Stop by the College Center Rotunda to join in on the fun between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. See what else is coming up this week. Thanks to Mandi Smith for her good leadership in organizing these events.
PERSONNEL UPDATE
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Dawn Huffman. Dawn successfully defended her dissertation last month. Let’s also congratulate Chris Romer, director of purchasing, for receiving notification from the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) that her application for recertification as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) has been approved. Congratulations Dawn and Chris!
