Dear Faculty and Staff:
I am pleased to announce that at the Board of Trustees meeting last night, Trustees Ehlmann and Pundmann completed the Oath of Office following their re-election earlier this month. The Board also selected the following new officers: Pam Cilek, President; Shirley Lohmar, Vice President; Rose Mack, Treasurer, and Mary Stodden, Secretary. We are very fortunate to have such a supportive and dedicated Board.
CAMPUS HAPPENINGS
I received word that SCC achieved recognition as a 2017 Tree Campus USA. Tree Campus USA is a national program launched in 2008 by the Arbor Day Foundation that honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation. Congratulations to our Grounds team for earning this status, yet again.
On April 12, Grounds hosted an Arboriculture Field Day. The main activity was planting the 74 trees funded by the Missouri Dept. of Conservation (MDC) TRIM grant. The event was supported by the MDC and the Missouri Community Forestry Council (MCFC), with volunteers from the Missouri Master Naturalists, Davey Resource Group, SCC Environmental Services staff, and our students. What a great way to show our appreciation for our planet just in time for Earth Day.
Last week, Dr. Bookstaver and I had the pleasure of joining our students Rachel Rotter, Antonia LaRocca, Hannah Ngugi, John McGinness and Skye Parker to the PTK annual convention in Kansas City, Mo. It was a wonderful experience for our students as they helped celebrate PTK’s 100th anniversary in Kansas City.
