Dear Faculty and Staff:
I am thrilled to announce that we secured the college’s first National Science Foundation grant for $222,269. This grant supports our new agriculture program. Funds will be used for a specific project called “Educating Agriculture Technicians.” The funding extends from September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2021. Thank you to Heather Stueben, Lauren Dickens, Amanda Sizemore and Tammie De Los Santos for working collaboratively to develop the program and write the grant.
CAMPUS HAPPENINGS
On Friday, I hosted my first student-centered Tea with the President and Cabinet. This event gave me an exciting opportunity to engage in conversation with students and learn about their experiences.
I also hosted a monthly tea with faculty and staff on April 11. The following employees joined me for a wonderful conversation: Nancy Graviett, Monica Hall-Woods, Mitch Harden, Corey Porter, Debbie Schultze, Yemi Smith, and Liz Quiggins.
The SCC Juried Student Art Exhibition started this week. Stop by the FAB gallery and view the work of our very talented students.
MEETINGS
The President’s Council met on April 12. Minutes of the meeting will be posted once they are approved.
Last night, Dr. Bookstaver, Vice President Galbierz, Associate Vice President Sizemore and Ms. Cramer joined me for a meeting in Warren County. Leaders within the county have made a decision that they would like to have the northern part of Warren County (Wright City and Warrenton) become part of SCC’s service area. We are in the preliminary stages of discussing this possible partnership and will keep you posted as things develop.
