Touch Base Tuesday 2-15-22

Dear Faculty and Staff:

SCC will be holding a Professional Development Day in August. It is an opportunity fostering personal and professional growth for employees. Our new Interim Director of Professional Development, Nancy Kammerer, is putting out a call for proposals with the intentionally broad theme of Student Success. This could take a variety of different paths such as:

     1. Student Success Learning Tracks
     2. Building Community to Increase Student Success
     3. Daring to Lead to Improve Student Success
     4. Removing Barriers for Best Practices
     5. Pedagogy, Praxis and Putting it into Action

It is our hope this process will empower everyone to participate and help create more ways and opportunities for Student Success. For more information on the timeline and for the proposal process, please contact Nancy. (nkammerer@stchas.edu)

The African American Faculty Staff Association is having a t-shirt fundraiser during the month of February to raise funds for the AAFSA Diversity Scholarship. The AAFSA Diversity Scholarship is a one-time $250 scholarship meant to encourage and support the enrollment of diverse students. Our goal is to sell at least 100 shirts so we can award at least two scholarships.

For donations or for more information, contact Dr. Chris Hubbard Jackson, AAFSA President, at chubbard@stchas.edu or AAFSA.Scholarship@gmail.com

Our Campus Police recently held an Outreach Task Force Meeting with a presentation on Cyber Bullying. If you were not able to attend, a recording of the presentation can be found here.

We’ve all been impacted by the pandemic for two years now. Experiencing stress from all the changes and uncertainties is understandable. The good news is there is a way to help mitigate that stress. Have you ever heard of mindfulness practice? On February 16 at 10:00 AM Central Time, PAS will offer a 30-minute, interactive presentation on mindfulness, as well as teach how to use their mindfulness app. This is offered through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at no charge. The session is offered via Zoom. Pre-registration is required for this session at:
