Dear Faculty and Staff:

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback regarding the commencement ceremony.  After reviewing the results, the ceremony will remain at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, in the College Center gym.  We will continue to investigate ways to improve the ceremony in 2021.

Yesterday the college hosted SCC district legislators and other local elected officials for a Legislative Coffee. I provided a college update that shares program updates and critical needs that support our mission. Brian Millner, president and CEO of the Missouri Community College Association, attended and shared additional information on MCCA’s legislative agenda.

On Friday, Dec. 6, the college was the host of the St. Louis Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Morning HuSTLe which included local and regional business leaders, as well as members of the college cabinet. I was happy to welcome this important group and to present a brief update on SCC’s workforce training and initiatives that will continue to support our local economy.

On November 27, Progress 64 West awarded the St. Charles County Manufacturing Committee the Excellence in Community Development Award in recognition of Manufacturing Day.  Manufacturing Day was hosted at SCC on October 1 and had nearly 800 students, 30 community volunteers 36 employer partners participate.

The Division of Student Services welcomed Dr. Diane Arnzen to the team on Dec. 2 as the new director of academic advising.  Most recently she was employed at Jefferson College as the director of student support services/Project SUCCESS. She has an extensive background in academic advising, student support services, and disability services. Other stops on her career path include Maryville University, St. Louis University, and Beloit College (Wisconsin).  Please join the student services team in welcoming Diane to SCC.

I would like to thank the Special Events Committee, chaired by Amber Hart, events coordinator, for a successful and festive End of the Year Social. In addition to tasty salad, pizza and cake, the team from the Center for Healthy Living provided some impromptu entertainment to a holiday classic!
