Dear Faculty and Staff:
Last week I attended the Missouri Community College Association’s Annual Conference in Branson. The theme was “Reset, Reboot, Recharge.” A highlight of the conference each year is the annual MCCA Recognition and Excellence Awards program which is dedicated to recognizing individuals and institutions that have set the standard of excellence during the year.
St. Charles Community College had two award recipients this year. Mr. Joe Howe, Professor of Math, received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for 2021. Mr. Tom Schrautemeier, Sr. Academic Advisor, received the Senior Service Award for 2021. I am proud and delighted for this well-deserved recognition. Please join me in congratulating Professor Howe and Mr. Schrautemeier.
I wish to express my appreciation to everyone who joined me for my Listening Tours. It was good to connect with each of you and to hear your feedback regarding the college. I appreciate the suggestion offered by many of you that employees would like more opportunities to hear directly from me regarding college updates and activities. To this end, I will be scheduling additional Listening Tours this semester. I am also hoping to find time to begin attending departmental meetings. I will let you know as soon as we confirm the dates/locations.
SCC’s Pandemic Committee will hold another vaccination incentive drawing on November 19th. As a reminder, you can win iPads, Apple Watches or Amazon Gift Cards! If interested, please register here: https://www.stchas.edu/lp/vaccine-incentive-program
SCC strongly encourages all faculty, staff, and administrators to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Watchfire Signs, the national manufacturer of LED signs has recognized Bill Yount Signs & Electric, Inc. as a recipient of their Gold Award Winner for their work at SCC. The award recognizes sign companies who have displayed excellence in effectiveness, design and how well the artwork showcases the digital components of on-premise advertising.
In addition to the installation of our new LED signs, construction of the new Department of Public Safety Building has been completed. On November 18th at 4:00 p.m. we will hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony. My appreciation is extended to Bob Ronkoski and Rick Waligurski for their leadership over this project.
As you know by now, our Higher Learning Commission (HLC) review will happen November 29-30. The Academic Affairs Department has created a Scavenger Hunt aimed at helping all of us review SCC’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan goals while allowing the opportunity to win prizes. For more information on the Scavenger Hunt, please contact Devin Miles at firstname.lastname@example.org. I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have worked tirelessly to create our Compliance Report and help prepare for the team’s visit.
Have a great week!
