Dear Faculty and Staff:
The MCCA Leadership Academy was held September 28 through October 1 in Kansas City, Missouri. Lindy McGuire was the representative chosen to attend from St. Charles Community College. The Leadership Academy was established to promote leadership and collaboration among Missouri Community Colleges. Throughout the week participants developed knowledge of shared governance, engaged with state legislators to understand the legislative process associated with community college initiatives and discovered new methods of communication. Representatives from every Missouri Community College system came together to support transformative change and reflect on the qualities and strengths a leader must possess in higher education.
The Leadership Academy provided opportunities for networking with leaders from community colleges across the state, fostered state-wide collaboration and facilitated innovative thinking to further the state’s mission of educating and training Missouri’s residents and workforce. Lindy said, “I was honored to represent St. Charles Community College at the second annual MCCA Leadership Academy in Kansas City, MO and am grateful for the opportunity to join the class of program alums.”
At the September 27, 2021 Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees set the property tax rates for 2021. The tax rates for operating and debt service purposes are both declining, which is good news for tax payers in St. Charles County. When property values increase due to reassessment, tax rates are adjusted lower to provide approximately the same revenue as prior years. In particular, I am pleased to report we delivered on SCC’s “No Tax Increase” pledge made for the Proposition Community College bonds. Residential and commercial development continues to be strong in St. Charles County. We are fortunate to serve a vibrant and growing community.
Please join me in welcoming Amy Snydar as the new Senior Administrative Assistant/Office Coordinator in the Office of the President. Amy joins us from Highline College in Washington where she served as Administrative Assistant in the Office of the President. Amy recently relocated to the St. Peters area from Washington.
Best wishes for a wonderful week!
