Stephanie Couturier

Success Story

After spending years working in a field that she didn’t love, Stephanie Couturier decided to enroll at SCC and follow her heart. “I knew that there is more to life than just getting by, I wanted to start doing something I am passionate about for a living.”

Stephanie has loved to read since first grade. “I’ve wanted to be an English teacher my whole life, but things got busy for me after high school graduation. I just took the job opportunities that were presented to me at the time,” she said. “It’s been fine, but I’m ready to turn doing what I love into a career.”

SCC gave Stephanie the opportunity to start over with her career. “I love SCC. I like the environment, because there is a mixture of both young students and returning learners,” said Stephanie. “It’s great to see that people value education.”

“I’ve also loved being a member of Phi Theta Kappa,” said Stephanie. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the official honor society for community colleges. “It’s a great way to get involved on campus.”

Having taken on the role of the recording officer, Stephanie has been very involved in PTK. “I recommend students join PTK. You are exposed to more scholarship opportunities, and you get to feel a sense of community and accomplishment,” she said. “It’s an honor and it’s something I’m proud of. I was so excited when I got my invitation letter in the mail!”
