When Ted Davis’ employer asked him to update his skill set in order to stay on board during a company-wide downsize, he enrolled in SCC’s Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) class.

“The SCC offering for this class was a fraction of the boot camp prices,” Ted said. “The big plus was getting to use the Cisco Equipment in the classroom.”

With a Master of Science degree in computer science from Rolla earned over a decade ago, Ted said staying current in the technology field is an ongoing endeavor.

He completed his CCNA, CCNA-Voice, CCNA-Security and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) while at SCC.

He also worked as a networking lab tech during his time at SCC. “It was great helping other students learn about networking,” he said. “Every day was like a pop quiz just like every day at work. The diverse trouble shooting experiences I faced helped me deal with what I faced at work.”

Ted works at Nokia in New Product Introduction for Passive Optical LANs Opportunities and continues to study and take certification exams.  

“SCC classes helped build the foundation of understanding I needed to excel in the networking field,” he said.
