Tatiana Xenos said she enrolled at SCC to pursue the education she needs to open her own boutique business in fashion or cosmetology.
After graduating high school in 2007 from Lafayette High School, Tatiana moved with her family to Greece. While in Greece, Tatiana, a licensed cosmetologist, opened up her own salon at the age of 18. While the business flourished, homesickness got a hold of Tatiana and she decided to close the doors and move back home.
Upon returning to Defiance, Mo., Tatiana received some advice from her older sister, Aliki. “You should go to SCC and get your degree,” Aliki said.
Tatiana was skeptical at first because of a learning disability, but after her sister’s persistence she finally enrolled in classes.
“Aliki pushed me to go back to school and she is my inspiration,” Tatiana said.
Tatiana uses the resources provided at SCC to help her succeed, such as the ACE Tutoring Center.
“The ACE Center is a great tool when you are stuck and need some extra help. Everyone has been so patient and helpful at SCC,” said Tatiana.
When Tatiana is not at school or studying she said she likes to be creative. Her hobbies include dancing, singing, belly dancing and hair styling. She also works as a stylist at Great Clips while she attends school.
Tatiana plans to graduate from SCC and go on to Mizzou and get her bachelor’s degree in business administration.
