Basic Needs

At St. Charles Community College, we understand that life can get overwhelming, and it’s hard to focus on school when your basic needs aren’t being met. Whether you're dealing with food insecurity, housing challenges, or need access to physical or mental health care, the Student Health and Wellness Office is here for you.

We believe in the importance of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, a framework that shows how basic needs like food, shelter, and safety must be met before we can focus on learning, growth, and success. When those foundational needs are unmet, it’s harder to concentrate, stay motivated, or perform well academically, and that’s okay. We’re here to help you get what you need.

Free Breakfast Available: Stop by the Plaza Bistro in the Student Center (Main Campus) from 7:30a.m.–9:30 a.m., Monday–Friday. Options are also available at the Dardenne Creek Campus.
