Synopsis:

Middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia live a quiet life in the Pennsylvania farmhouse where they grew up, but their peace is disturbed when their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in unannounced with her new boy toy, Spike. Also on the scene are a sassy cleaning woman who can predict the future and a lovely young aspiring actress. A weekend of rivalry, regret, and raucousness begins, eventually leading to threats to sell the family home. In its own deliciously madcap way, this Tony-award winning play offers some keen insights into the challenges and agonies of 21st century life.

Roles Available:

Vanya –the level-headed 57-yr-old brother who chose caring for ailing parents over his personal ambitions and who is both disappointed and resigned to the emptiness of his life.

Sonia – his frumpy but loveable, unmarried, adopted sister whose frustration and insecurities often result in slightly neurotic tantrums and crying jags. (early 50’s)

Masha – his glamorous and successful movie-star sister who is vain and narcissistic and unable to give up the spotlight even for a second. (50’s)

Spike – An aspiring actor, 29 or younger, sexy, self-absorbed, Masha’s new companion.

Nina – Lovely, sincere would be actress, early 20s, visiting her aunt and uncle next door.  Star struck and energetic.

Cassandra – Cleaning lady and soothsayer, any age, any race.
