2009 Spring

  • President appoints self-study co-chairs
  • March/April – Develop three-year budget
  • Design self-study Steering Committee and Subcommittee structure
  • Develop outline (Table of Contents) for self-study report
  • Develop goals for self-study process
  • Develop timeline for self-study process

2009 Summer

  • Set up Information Resources Committee to create physical and virtual resource rooms
  • Set up Communications Committee to develop self-study communications plan
  • Set up self-study site on Intranet
  • Develop agenda for first Steering Committee orientation with co-chairs

2009 Fall

  • All College Day: Announce Steering Committee, Communications Committee, Information Resources Committee, general timeline, goals, and criteria overview.
  • Share self-study design, goals and timeline with Board of Trustees
  • Selection of subcommittee members
  • Planning Council work integrated into the self-study process

2010 Spring

  • HLC sends President letter regarding upcoming visit
  • President sends response to HLC
  • Subcommittees begin work by February 1, 2010
  • Subcommittee chapter plans due to co-chairs by May 1, 2010
  • Co-chairs and Steering Committee attend HLC conference April 9-13, 2010

2010 Summer

  • Co-chairs complete general sections of self-study  by August 1, 2010

2010 Fall

  • All College Day update on self-study progress
  • Subcommittees complete outline of chapter contents, timetable for completion of chapter, persons responsible for each task by October 1, 2010, and share plan with co-chairs
  • Campus visit with HLC Liaison

2011 Spring

  • HLC sends President second reminder letter affirming agreed-upon dates for visit
  • President sends response
  • Begin room reservations for on- and off-campus meetings
  • February 18 , 2011 – Steering Committee members’ draft of their sections due to co-chairs
  • April 8-12, 2011 – Co-chairs and Steering Committee members attend HLC meeting
  • May 1, 2011 – First draft of self-study report completed

2011  Summer

  • Revision of draft begins
  • Distribution of draft to Cabinet, Steering Committee, others
  • Self-study co-chairs complete revisions
  • Send draft of self-study to HLC liaison and outside consultant-evaluator
  • MAC gets bid for production and printing of Self-Study Report
  • Evaluate proposed roster of visiting team members and send response to HLC
  • HLC sends Evaluation Visit Summary Sheet (EVSS)
  • SCC notifies HLC of any errors on EVSS
  • July 2011
    • Begin arrangements for accreditation team visit
    • Plan recognition of Steering, Subcommittee, Communication, and Information Resources Committees
    • Plan reaccreditation celebration event
    • Share self-study information with Planning Council as part of strategic planning process review of Critical Issues, Goals, and Strategic Organizational Objectives
    • Final version of self-study complete
    • Post final Self-Study Report on Intranet
    • MAC formats final version of Self-Study Report

2011 Fall

  • Confirm hotel accommodations
  • August 2011
    • Final production and printing of Self-Study Report
    • Submit Self-Study Report 8-10 weeks prior to team visit
    • Publish notices of third party comment opportunities
  • All College Day – What you need to know about the self-study visit in November:  Criteria, timeline, what to expect
  • Forward copies of notices of third party comments to Assistant Director for Legal and Governmental Affairs at HLC/NCA
  • Visiting Team Chair contacts President to confirm arrangements
  • September 2011
    • Pay invoice for team visit
    • Share self-study results with campus community to assist in strategic planning
    • College-wide area/departmental informational meetings to prepare for site visit
    • Announce dates of visit to all constituent groups including external constituents
    • Announce dates of visit in SCC publications
    • Publicize open meeting with HLC team
  • October 2011
    • Complete physical and virtual resource rooms
  • November 2011
    • Finalize team schedule and confirm with team chair
    • Team visit – November 7-9, 2011
    • Reaccreditation celebration event
  • December 2011
    • Team chair sends Draft Team Report to SCC within six weeks of visit
    • Send institutional response within two weeks of receipt of Draft Team Report
  • January 2012
    • Team Chair sends Final Team Report to commission
    • Commission staff sends Final Team Report to SCC
    • Send institutional response within two weeks of receipt of Final Team Report
  • August-November 2012
    • Planning Council reviews self-study results and HLC recommendations as part of 2012-2015 planning cycle
