Registration now open for Industrial Trade programs in robotics, mechatronics, manufacturing, supply chain and more!
Expanding west, SCC’s new, innovative, future-focused Regional Workforce Innovation Center, located at 2400 Interstate Drive in Wentzville, is nearly complete. Construction will be finished in May, and the center will open for classes this fall.
With jobs in the industrial trades growing, St. Charles Community College is increasing offerings to meet the need.
“With technology transforming the workforce and higher education, we must make it available to students, so they are prepared for the careers today and in the future,” said Barbara Kavalier, Ph.D., SCC president.
Associate of Applied Science degree and certificate programs coming to SCC’s new center include machining, manufacturing, mechatronics, supply chain, logistics, and industrial trades (HVAC, facilities, robotics, mechanical contractor, and plumbing). Along with an AAS, students also may earn industry-recognized credentials and credit for prior learning.
The 48,000 square-foot facility includes a large open lab space for larger equipment and for showcasing innovative technology in collaboration with industry partners. Classrooms will be used for lecture along with lab space. A “Discovery Lab” will include simulators, hands-on activities, and interactive learning opportunities for students of all ages.
Partnerships with local industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, technology, and others, have shaped, and will continue to inform programming.
“Discussions with business and industry, along with job market data are informing our decisions for what programs we offer,” said Amy Koehler, Ed.D., Academic Provost. “Students will be well-prepared for careers with nearby employers and will be connected to apprenticeships and internship opportunities.”
While trade programs are relatively new to SCC, students can expect the same well-rounded high-quality education, career readiness, and ease of transfer to four-year institutions. With its K-12 school district partnerships and low tuition rates, SCC’s new programs will continue the tradition of preparing students for a future career.
In addition to the trade programs available at the Regional Workforce Innovation Center, SCC offers welding and commercial driving at nearby locations in Wentzville. Customized training also is available.
SCC broke ground on the center in October of 2023. It is the first building on SCC’s new 72-acre campus in Wentzville at the corner of Interstate Drive and Schaper Road.
