Kevin Chang graduated from SCC in 2012 with the skills necessary to excel at a four-year university and become successful in the field of engineering. “SCC taught me fundamentals I need in engineering,” Kevin said.
“The smaller class sizes make SCC a great environment for learning,” he said. “I really liked that the teachers in the Pre-Engineering Department have hands-on experience in the field. They motivated me to stick with engineering.”
Kevin is now pursuing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Washington University’s joint engineering program. “I found that SCC’s pre-engineering program more than prepared me for this next step in my education,” he said.
Kevin also decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business. “I learned how much I enjoy business from the organizations I was involved with at SCC,” he said. “I decided I want to explore that in my education as well.”
Kevin was an officer of Phi Theta Kappa, the two-year college academic honor society, and the student-engineering club at SCC, where he learned valuable lessons about life. “The programs outside of the classroom that I was involved in at SCC taught me about budgeting, fundraising and other life-long skills,” he said.
When Kevin completes his education, he hopes to find a job doing something that combines his passion for engineering and business.
