Growing up, MiKayla Evans was no stranger to St. Charles Community College. She participated in SCC’s Young People’s Theatre and spent most nights on campus rehearsing productions. During her time at the college, she had heard positive reviews. When it came time to enroll in college, she decided to give SCC a shot.

“I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do career-wise, but I knew I wanted to get a head-start in completing my general education classes,” MiKayla said. “I also heard how driven the teachers at SCC are and how invested they are in helping students succeed.”

MiKayla is currently working towards her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. Entering this program at SCC was MiKayla’s first experience with healthcare, and she was nervous she would fall behind.

My instructors would stay after class to help me understand concepts clearly. One of my instructors, would always offer additional opportunities for me to get experience in practicing a CNA skill

“To have an instructor who will go above and beyond to help their students succeed is such an amazing feeling and gives myself and other students the confidence we need to continue pursuing our dreams.”

MiKayla anticipates graduating from SCC in spring 2019 and has plans of going to the University of Missouri to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She’d like to further her education even more, eventually becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

“SCC truly cares about my success and has opened up so many doors and opportunities for me. I can’t think of a better school to attend to complete your associate’s degree.”
