Nina Ahren knew she wanted a career that would allow her creativity to shine. When her dad suggested marketing, Nina began looking into career options and felt it was a great fit.

“I’ve been modeling since I was 15, and I came into contact with the marketing manager for the St. Louis Premium Outlet Mall in Chesterfield during one of my events,” Nina said. “I was able to learn just how interesting the field is and how marketing can make a difference to a business.”

After high school, Nina started her path toward her dream marketing career at SCC.

“The A+ Program allowed me to attend for free, and the college was incredibly close to my home,” Nina said. “It allowed me to spend more time with my family and my sister, who is nine years younger.”

While at SCC, Nina joined the Honors Program to get involved. “I was used to connecting information across courses, but the Honors Program really helped solidify concepts in both classes.”

She also credits the Honors Program for helping her land a full-ride scholarship to University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). After SCC, Nina plans to complete her bachelor’s degree in business at UMSL and possibility purse a master’s degree down the road.

“My dream is to work for an ethical and sustainable company, possibly a non-profit, as either a marketing manager or public relations specialist,” she said. “I feel incredibly lucky to have had my life turn out the way it has, and I know it would not have been possible without hard work and others believing in me.”
