Touch Base Tuesday 4.9.19
Dear Faculty and Staff:
I hope you enjoyed the beautiful spring weather during the weekend. Early Sunday evening, while my husband and I sat outside on our patio, I took the following photo. This is the first time I have seen a double rainbow. According to my Google search, in eastern cultures, a double rainbow is a symbol for transformation and good fortune.
Although it was not as warm on April 5, we had great participation for our seventh semiannual Day of Service. Please join me in sending a “thank you” to Bryonie Carter for her good assistance in organizing this successful and important event.
Another wonderful event took place yesterday in the Student Center. Our International Program facilitated an event that allowed our campus community to enjoy food, music, costumes, etc. from many different countries. We also had an opportunity to meet some of our international students. Thanks to Dawn Huffman, Rob Jones, and others for their good assistance.
Congratulations to Vice President McDorman on her National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) Communicator of the Year award. She accepted the award at the national conference in March. This is an extremely prestigious award, and we are lucky to have such a talented, hard-working individual right here at SCC.
Although the Warren County Prop J ballot measure did not pass last Tuesday, the Warren County workgroup did a great job in their efforts for a first time out! It took multiple attempts before St. Charles County approved the original tax to establish the college, and more importantly, I believe we all learned so much through the process and have many ideas for moving forward. With a new approach and additional support, I have no doubt that we will succeed with the next ballot measure. Thanks to everyone who assisted in this effort.
Please remember to mark your calendar for our final round of candidates for the Vice President of Student Services. We have two of the three finalists’ forums scheduled today and tomorrow in the Board Room from 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. The final candidate will be joining us next Monday, April 15 at the same time and place.
Enjoy the week!
Barbara
