Dear Faculty and Staff:
Summer and fall enrollment opened for current and returning students this week, and it will open to everyone next Monday. This is an exciting time as we team up to help students reach their educational goals and strive to reach our own enrollment goals.
In the spirit of coming together as a team, thank you to everyone who took time out of your day to volunteer for SCC’s Day of Service on Friday. It was great to see students, faculty and staff come together to volunteer both on campus and in the community.
CAMPUS HAPPENINGS
I had the opportunity to provide a welcome at the annual PTK Induction Ceremony held on Sunday, April 8. Congratulations to all the students who were inducted into PTK over the weekend and a special thanks to the faculty advisors Christina Gant, Kathleen Daugherty and Rachel McWhorter who put in the work that make this club possible.
The college hosted a tree planting ceremony on April 6 in support of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. This annual event seeks to honor crime victims in our community including those who died as a result of the crimes.
MEETINGS
On April 4, I was joined by Dr. John Bookstaver and Amanda Sizemore for a meeting with Lee Langerock of Prep the Page to discuss programs at the Center for Healthy Living. Prep the Page is an organization designed to be a connector for communities and resources and a promoter of productive support that directly benefits business and economic development services.
