Touch Base Tuesday 3.5.19
Dear Faculty and Staff:
For this week’s Touch Base Tuesday, I wanted to share with you an update from the President’s Council. Last month the Summer Building Closure Task force administered a survey to collect employee responses to this pilot program. My appreciation is extended to those of you who completed the survey. I have attached a copy of the summary for your review.
At the President’s Council meeting last week, the group discussed the survey results. Although some employees enjoyed having an adjusted schedule, there were a number of concerns expressed about the pilot. Based on this feedback, I suggested that it might be a good idea to place the building closure plan on hold for this summer. The Council agreed with this suggestion and decided to allow each department to make the decision about whether or not to close on Fridays. As such, we will not implement mandatory closing of buildings this summer.
Associated with the topic of saving money and advancing sustainability measures, Chad Shepherd, Chief Information Officer, recommended that all computer users shut down computers and monitors every evening. This will conserve electricity. The President’s Council supported this recommendation.
Please feel free to attend any of our Council meetings. The agenda and minutes are posted on the portal for your review.
Have a great week.
Barbara
