Dear Faculty and Staff:

With all the weather changes we’ve had recently, many of the events and activities we were planning for spring were postponed or delayed. This was the case with All College Day. To ensure that we can still bring everyone together for a college update and several celebratory events, we have adjusted our plans. Please mark your calendars for Friday, April 29. We will be combining All College Day with a campus-wide celebration of our HLC Accreditation and service recognition of our employees. I will also facilitate a Listening Tour on the following dates/times:

Dardenne Creek Campus – April 12 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
SCC Campus – April 13 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

I hope you will be able to join us for these events.

Building Names
Since the 2019-20 academic year, the President’s Council has discussed the need to revisit the naming of campus buildings. SCC’s Proposition Community College bond initiative includes funding for new signage. Before we moved into the design phase of this project, it was important to finalize building names and to add numbers to each building for emergency purposes. Last fall a tentative list of names was reviewed by the Council. Following additional feedback, this spring the Council reviewed the final list before sending to the Board for review. At their Study Session in February, the Board supported all names presented and suggested only one change. The recommendation to name the Administration Building St. Charles Main was changed to SCC Main. Final list of official building names.

Touch Base Tuesday_3_29_22.jpgThe first Lakeside Chat with our new employees was held two weeks ago. It was a great opportunity to get to know one another. It was touching to hear about how many new folks came to SCC through their desire to serve the community and help promote and make education accessible for our student population. We are so happy to welcome the new members of our SCC community.

SCC Foundation is hosting this year’s SCC Be Transformed Gala and Auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Ameristar. It promises to be a great time with fun and good food – a fantastic way to support our students. Volunteer opportunities and tickets are still available. Please get in touch with Betsy Schneider: eschneider@stchas.edu for more information on how you can help. The event is black-tie optional.

Have a great week!
Barbara
