Dear Faculty and Staff:
Welcome to March! I’m excited to announce that SCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter has been named a 2021 REACH Chapter. The recognition is part of PTK’s REACH Rewards program, which celebrates and rewards Phi Theta Kappa chapters excelling in membership development. More than 112,500 students across the world became PTK members in 2020 – which an amazing statistic during the global pandemic. Well done, SCC’s Alpha Xi Chi Chapter!

SCC’s inaugural MOC Student Success Summit was a tremendous success last Friday, Feb. 26. We hosted 58 high school students, high school counselors, community partners, SCC staff and faculty, and a few parents. Several national speakers shared some of their own life experiences with wonderful advice for students. Many participating students are interested in learning more about our new MOC Student Success Program, which we expect to begin this fall. Many thanks and congratulations are extended to the co-leads of the Men of Color Summit, Martha Garcia Kampen, chief diversity and compliance officer, and Robert Jones, student life manager. March begins our Women’s History Month with many interesting events in which to participate. Here is the registration link.
Have a wonderful week,
Barbara
