Dear Faculty and Staff:

Thank you to those who attended All College Day on February 15. I received many positive comments about the new format. Most of our panel members had worked at a community college, served as a faculty member, or had family members who were educators. The dialogue was engaging and filled with many current examples and stories from community colleges across the nation. Thanks to Dr. Bookstaver for his excellent moderating skills. As we move forward, we will continue to keep our sights on evolving trends and emerging practices, and will implement strategies that best meet the needs of our students and our community.

At our meeting on Friday, I provided a brief overview of our 2017-18 Annual Report. Here is a link to the website: https://www.stchas.edu/annualreport/index.html. My appreciation is extended to the Marketing Department for their efforts in producing this informative digital report.

I am pleased to announce that at the last President’s Council meeting we selected two new recipients of the President’s Award. Please join me in congratulating:

Michael Kuelker, Professor of English (faculty award): Professor Kuelker is one of the lead organizers of successful events such as Democracy Days. In 2004, Michael was recognized as Faculty of the Year and he has also served as President of the Faculty Association. “Michael Kuelker represents the best of SCC Faculty in his commitment to students and faculty and the broader community by instruction, outreach, and commitment to excellence . . .”

Jean Deimund, Box Office Manager and DOC for Theatre & Music (staff award): In addition to providing support to multiple offices, Jean manages the box office and other events scheduled in the FAB. She exceeds expectations in her work with the community, reaching out to area high schools to coordinate campus events for students and teachers involved in drama, speech and music. “She (Jean) is truly an extraordinary individual who demonstrates SCC’s mission and values 100%.”

On February 13, I hosted another President’s Tea. This was another wonderful opportunity to learn more about the amazing faculty and staff at SCC!
