Dear Faculty and Staff:
Valentine’s Day was filled with updates and celebrations, including the All Staff Update on Friday morning, followed by the Service Recognition Luncheon in the afternoon.
Similar to the All Faculty Update in January, I provided an overview of state and legislative initiatives, an enrollment update, and a review of accomplishments associated with our four strategic goals. Vice President Galbierz provided an overview of facilities and an update on the budget. Vice President Leenhouts shared his vision for improvements in Student Services and extended his appreciation to all his staff for their good efforts in contributing to positive enrollment. Following the presentations, Betsy Schneider facilitated a panel discussion which included: Todd Galbierz, Dave Leenhouts, Donna Davis, Boyd Copeland, and Kathy Brockgreitens. Following this event, faculty, staff, and Board members came together in the College Center to celebrate their colleagues at the annual Service Recognition Luncheon.
It was wonderful to take time to celebrate the important milestone that each individual accomplished in his/her professional journey at St. Charles Community College. This year three employees were recognized for 30 years of service (Timothy Braun, Michael Dompierre, Heather McDorman) and one Board member (Jean Ehlmann) received recognition for 25 years. Congratulations to all the honorees. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated faculty, staff, and Board members.
Last week I met with Dr. Bernie DuBray, superintendent of the Fort Zumwalt School District. We shared updates from our respective institutions and discussed future opportunities to work with Fort Zumwalt on projects that will benefit our community. I look forward to our continued partnership.
Members of the President’s Council took part in a brainstorming activity last week focused on identifying challenges and opportunities related to how the college could move the needle on retention and student success. The results of the activity will be merged with ideas gathered at the recent Board of Trustees Study Session. During President’s Council, Chad Shepherd, chief information officer and co-chair of Strategic Planning, introduced a proposed model for incorporating Key Performance Indicators into our Strategic Plan.
I am pleased to report our final Spring Census data: Enrollment is up almost 1% (0.8%); and, we have met 104.2% of the FY 20 budget goal.
Best wishes for a wonderful week!
Barbara
