Dear Faculty and Staff:
I was thrilled to hear the news from James Bratcher that St. Charles Community College has completed the process of identifying new officers for SCC’s Student Government Association. According to James, “SGA will be working towards adding additional members at-large to the group and working to make the other clubs and organizations thrive post-COVID shutdown.”
Please join me in welcoming our new SGA officers:
President: Ryan Pendergast Vice President: Emily Jesse
Secretary: Nicholas Helsel Treasurer: Richard Meyer
Parliamentarian: Ibrahim Zakaria
I have received a few questions about open enrollment for health benefits and wanted to provide the following update. Recognizing the challenges we have all faced with COVID-19, we decided this year not to change any of our vendors. As such, you may elect the same plan you currently have, if that is your desire. However, there is a 6% increase in the cost of our benefits, the majority of which will be
covered by the college. Our goal is to ensure that the increase for employees does not exceed 1%. Open enrollment for benefits is scheduled to begin the week of November 15. Human Resources will be sending out more detailed information soon.
I am pleased to announce we will be holding our Winter Social in person this year. It will be held at the Culinary Arts Building at our Dardenne Creek Campus on December 13 at 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We have faced many challenges individually and as college community these past 20 months of this global pandemic, making this a great chance for Faculty and Staff to come together and celebrate our many achievements this year and to simply be with one another socially. There will be food and entertainment (Karaoke), so come and join in the fun!
Our amazing men’s soccer team has done it again! They defeated Heartland Community College by a final score of 1-0. The game went into overtime with our men scoring during the second overtime, securing a victory and a spot in the national tournament. This is the first time any SCC athletic program has won a district championship game. It is also the first time SCC has hosted a district championship game. With the win, the men receive an automatic bid to the national tournament which will be held in Wichita, KS - November 15-20. Congratulations to our coaches and our student athletes.
Best wishes,
Barbara
