114 Vacancy of Board of Trustees Position

P-114.1 In the case of a vacancy occurring in the membership of the Board of Trustees, the Board will be informed at its next regularly scheduled meeting.

Any vacancy shall be filled by majority vote of the remaining Board members. The appointed Trustee will serve until the next election held by or for the district when a Trustee shall be elected for the unexpired term.

When a person becomes a member of the Board of Trustees by appointment, the new member shall be seated after having taken the prescribed oath of office.

P-114.2 Selection Criteria for Trustee Appointees
Appointees to the Board of Trustees must meet the following requirements:
  • United States citizenship;
  • Age of 21 years or older;
  • No conviction of or guilty plea to a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States of America (RSMo 115.348);
  • Current voter registration in the district for one or more years;
  • Take and adhere to an oath of office;
  • Adhere to the College's Code of Ethics/Conflicts of Interest policy in accordance with Missouri Revised Statutes.

Appointees to the Board of Trustees should demonstrate as many of the following characteristics as possible:

  • Clear understanding of and willingness to work actively to promote the mission, vision, and values of the College;
  • Understanding of the community and its needs and issues;
  • Leadership, accountability, and fiduciary responsibility;
  • Special skills, talents, or interests that are beneficial to the College; and
  • Availability to attend and be involved regularly in Board and committee meetings and other College activities.
