SCC Center Stage Theatre to Hold Open Auditions for "Crimes of the Heart" Aug. 20-21

Published: 08/06/2012

Director Pam Cilek will hold vocal and acting auditions at 7 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, Aug. 20-21, in the theater of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus in Cottleville. Center Stage Theatre invites SCC students and community residents to audition.

There are parts for two men and four women. The auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, which is on reserve in the SCC library. Comedic monologues are encouraged, but not required.

“Crimes of the Heart” is a dark comedy about three sisters who reunite on the occasion of the youngest sister Babe’s recent trouble with the law. She is being accused of attempting to shoot her husband. Her explanation was that she was having a bad day. Unfortunately, the entire family has been having bad days with Pappy’s poor health, Meg’s floundering singing career and Lenny’s forgotten birthday. Together the three sisters, along with a young lawyer, work through family problems, old loves and past hurts to get Babe acquitted.

The performances will be held in the theater of the Fine Arts Building Wednesday-Sunday, Oct. 3-7.
