SCC Receives Former Drug Evidence as Gift from Missouri State Highway Patrol

Published: 03/06/2012

Once used for growing marijuana, the items donated include grow lights and ballasts, grow buckets, a dehumidifier, a beam scale, miscellaneous chemicals, pumps and tubing. The items were released from evidence after the conclusion of a court case that was filed in state circuit court.

Plans for the equipment include use by SCC’s Science Department to grow geraniums and coleus plants for biology and botany classes, and by the Food Services Department for an herb garden.

“The estimated value of the items is several thousand dollars and we’re thankful for the gift,” said Bob Ronkoski, SCC director of public safety and chief of police. “The college students will benefit from donated equipment.”

“We’re happy the items can be put to good use at the college,” said Sergeant Al Nothum of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
