Fall 2020 Semester
Sections may meet in a classroom every class session, every other class meeting, or as needed. Make sure to read the comments on your particular section in the Course Schedule. You most likely will have class virtually during the class periods you are not meeting on campus. You are responsible for attending all scheduled class meetings, regardless of their format. Once your instructor is assigned to your course, reach out to them if you have any questions about the number of on-campus class meetings. The live class schedule can be found here.
Sections will be fully online with no required class meetings on specific days or times. Your instructor may choose to hold virtual office hours, but otherwise you will interact through the assignments and discussion boards in Canvas, email, and Canvas messaging. The live class schedule can be found here.
A microphone and speakers are required for all SCC Fall 2020 courses. A webcam may be required for some classes. If you do not have these available at home, you will need to make time to utilize our campus labs and/or check out equipment from the Service Desk. A limited supply is available, so please contact us at servicedesk@stchas.edu or by calling 636-922-8555 as soon as possible if you need a laptop, Wi-Fi hotspot, webcam or other technology.
Library services are available online and in person. Interactions with reference librarians will occur in spaces to allow for social distancing. Surfaces will be sanitized between appointments. Protective barriers will also be in place in areas like the Circulation Desk.
We ask students to arrive at least 15 minutes early before their class begins and park their vehicles at least six feet away from the nearest vehicle.
When entering a building:
- Check in with the SCC representative in the identified entryway of the building.
- Ensure mask is properly worn (when medically able).
- Have your temperature taken.
- Provide your name to the SCC representative.
- Use hand sanitizing station once inside the building.
- Go directly to your desired location.
- Exercise six feet of social distancing at all times.
Fall Operations
Assistance with admissions, advising, counseling, registration, and financial aid will be available remotely or in person. In-person assistance is by appointment only. Individual appointments with students will occur in spaces that allow for social distancing. Surfaces will be sanitized between appointments. Protective barriers will be put in place as an added protection in high traffic offices.
Students will be allowed back on campus on Aug. 15. SCC will continue following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and St. Charles County Health Department regarding safety and social distancing.
All on-campus events have been canceled or postponed. The Student Activities Office will look for ways to connect students virtually. Please visit the college online calendar for the latest information regarding events.
The Assessment Center will be open on an appointment basis for standardized testing only. Students and testing candidates must have an appointment with a staff member in order to access the Center. Individual appointments can be made by emailing the Assessment Center at ac@stchas.edu.
Fall Student Services
If you have any technology concerns, students are asked to inform each of your professors as soon as possible. We will work with students to find solutions. SCC’s goal is to minimize any disruption to student learning.
The ACE Tutoring Center is offering online-only tutoring services effectively immediately. Students are encouraged to call 636-922-8444 to set up an appointment. Instructions will be sent following the call on how to connect to a tutor virtually.
